Conservative commentator Matt Walsh reacted to reports suggesting that former Vice President Kamala Harris was considering another presidential run in 2028. He framed the possibility as a “disaster,” not for Democrats, but for Republicans, as he reposted a December 16 post by Collin Rugg.

The post outlined claims that Harris was positioning herself for another White House bid despite her loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

It also cited Polymarket odds giving her only a slim chance of securing the Democratic nomination, while noting that Harris herself reportedly believed she remained exceptionally qualified for the presidency.

The post detailed:

“Former Vice President Kamala Harris is ‘stepping toward’ another run for president in 2028, according to Axios. Harris has just a 5% chance of becoming the Democratic nominee in 2028...Despite losing to Trump in 2024, Harris appears to think highly of herself, claiming many are saying she is the ‘most qualified candidate ever to run for president.’”

As Matt Walsh reposted this aforementioned post, he framed Kamala Harris as an overwhelmingly strong political opponent

“Oh no. I really hope she doesn’t run again. Kamala Harris is incredibly formidable. A talented orator, charismatic personality, brilliant thinker, and a bold and fearless leader,” he wrote

He continued in an ironic vein, warning that Kamala Harris’ hypothetical candidacy would spell serious trouble for conservatives.

“It would be really bad for us if she ran again. I have my fingers crossed that she’ll decide against it. What a disaster it would be for Republicans,” Matt Walsh remarked.

Kamala Harris appeared to be laying the groundwork for another presidential run, signaling a potential 2028 bid with a message aimed not just at Republicans, but also at Democrats. The 61-year-old former vice president delivered the remarks just over a year after losing the 2024 election to Donald Trump, marking a clear shift from her previous campaign strategy.

Speaking to Democratic officials in Los Angeles on Friday, December 12, Harris distanced herself from the political establishment and criticized both major parties for what she framed as a systemic failure to earn public trust.

Rather than tying her message to the Biden administration, as she did during the 2024 campaign, Harris emphasized widespread voter frustration and a desire for disruption within government institutions.

She argued that Americans increasingly viewed the government as ineffective and incapable of addressing everyday concerns, suggesting that “both parties” had “failed to hold the public’s trust.

She expanded on that theme by describing a government that many Americans now saw as fundamentally broken and unable to meet their needs.

“Government is viewed as fundamentally unable to meet the needs of its people… People are done with the status quo, and they’re ready to break things to force change,” she added (According to Axios).

Harris also sought to contextualize Donald Trump’s political appeal, arguing that his rise reflected deeper institutional failures rather than being an isolated phenomenon.

“We cannot afford to be nostalgic for a flawed system that failed so many,” she said.

Harris also thanked party members and supporters for what she described as their continued commitment to democracy at the Democratic National Committee’s annual winter meeting in Los Angeles.

"People then come up to me in various places, and when they thank me, they are thanking you for standing up for our democracy, for the rule of law, for values and principles, for community, for the breadth and depth of who we are with all of our beautiful differences as a nation," she said during her remarks (as per Fox News)

Harris continued by saying that when people thanked her, they were in fact thanking those she was addressing for the work they did in upholding the “basic principles” that formed the foundation of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.

She also expressed her gratitude for everything they had done, were doing, and would continue to do.

According to Fox News, Kamala Harris has opted not to pursue a 2026 gubernatorial run in her home state of California. The decision appears to leave her political future far from settled, as she continues to keep the possibility of a 2028 presidential bid firmly in play.
