Mass shooting rocks California city after college football game on Labor Day weekend

Four people were wounded in an early-morning shooting in Sacramento following a college football game on Labor Day weekend, police said.

The Sacramento Police Department found three women suffering from gunshot wounds near Cucamonga Avenue and Ramona Avenue in the Granite Regional Park area around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Two of the women were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, while a third woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said.

A short time later, officers responded to a crash on nearby Folsom Boulevard and State University Drive and found a man who had also been shot.

He was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

The crash happened near Sacramento State University, where police also received reports of gunfire near a parking structure during Saturday night’s football game.

It remains unclear whether the shooting is connected to reports of gunfire Saturday night at Sacramento State that prompted a shelter-in-place order, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Police have not established a link between the incidents, and no suspect information was immediately released.
