Marlins' path to a winning record depends on a healthy and dominant staff

It has been two seasons since the Miami Marlins have been to the postseason or had a winning record. Injuries and the lack of stars have proved to be quite difficult to overcome.

However, we are in the new season, and the fanbase is hoping for a much better season. They have some exciting pieces in the starting rotation, and could surprise many across the league.

It is going to come down to how well the pitching staff handles itself and if the offense can push runs across the board.

Marlins' path to a winning record depends on a healthy and dominant staff

Despite trading away Edward Cabrera to the Chicago Cubs and Ryan Weathers to the New York Yankees, the Marlins still have a strong starting pitching staff.

Eury Perez has all the makings to be a true ace in this sport. The same can be said for Max Meyer, and Sandy Alcantara has already won an NL Cy Young Award.

Rounding out the top five will include Chris Paddack, who signed to a one-year deal earlier in the offseason, and Janson Junk, who beat out Braxton Garrett for the fifth starter spot.

According to Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly, it will be on the starting staff to reclaim their first winning record since the 2023 season and a potential postseason spot.

"Miami's best path towards posting a winning record—perhaps even competing for a wild-card spot—is going to be behind its starting rotation."

That is quite a lot of pressure to put on a starting rotation, especially with two of those arms being pretty young. But, they are good enough to put that pressure on, and it may be just what they need to take the next step and really show out during the 2026 season.
