We've made it to New Music Friday, which means Mark William Lewis, the baritone Briton who became the first signing to A24 Music, has released the deluxe edition of last year's self-titled album. The expanded album adds five bonus tracks, four of which are firmly in the "bonus track" zone: Power Snatch's cover of "Spit," a "Still Above" remix by Taylor Skye, a dub version of "Petals" by the Mad Professor, and a live cut of "Ugly" from New York's Cherry Lane Theatre. But there is one new studio recording from Lewis in the bunch.
That song, "Adrenaline," maintains Williams' signature creeping, off-kilter vibe. It's so smooth it feels haunted, like King Krule making a Destroyer album or the National going new age. It won't rev you up like the title suggests, but it might quicken your breathing and raise your pulse without you realizing it. Listen below, where you can also find a stream of the full deluxe.
