"Mark could've tossed him like a rag doll": Fans Erupt as All Hell Breaks Loose in Physical Fight Between Jose Alvarado and Mark Williams

Jose Alvarado and Mark Williams got into a fight in the third quarter of Saturday's game between the New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns. NBA fans online erupted after punches were thrown and both players were ejected from the contest.

With 2:06 left in the third period, Alvarado was called for a personal foul for pushing Williams for setting a screen. The Suns big man pushed the Pelicans guard on the back as he was arguing with the referee.

It triggered the altercation, with Alvarado landing a punch to Williams' face. The former Charlotte Hornets center also got in an elbow, missed a punch and a slap to the top of the head as players, coaches and referees separated the two players.

Luckily, no other players got into a scrap and knew that the assignment was to stop the fight. The referees ejected Alvarado and Williams, though the 7-foot-1 center was baffled by the decision.

It was a rare altercation in the NBA since punches were thrown and players were ejected. Most "fights" have been pushing and shoving, so fans on social media erupted in cheers for Jose Alvarado and Mark Williams.

Jose Alvarado finished with seven points, three assists and two steals in 14 minutes, while Mark Williams had 10 points and 10 rebounds before the ejection. The fight didn't affect the outcome of the game, as both teams played well into the final period.

The Suns took over to start the fourth quarter before the Pelicans stormed back and cut the lead down to three points at the 4:31 mark. However, Phoenix regained the momentum to earn the 123-114 win.

The fight between Jose Alvarado and Mark Williams was not the only one to go viral during the game. Jordan Poole, who was on the court when the altercation happened, had a viral reaction to punches being thrown.

Fans online hilariously mentioned Poole having flashbacks from being punched by Draymond Green during practice before the 2022-23 NBA season. Poole was infamously hit by Green after trash talk went south, with the tension hurting the Golden State Warriors' chances of repeating as champions.

Poole was traded to the Washington Wizards the following season, suiting up for them for two seasons before getting acquired by the New Orleans Pelicans last summer.
