The Seattle Mariners are currently in a playoff spot at 51-45, holding the second American League Wild Card spot.
Seattle is still in the running for the AL West but sit five games behind the Houston Astros for first place.
The Mariners are in need of upgrades at the corner infield positions if they want to boost their chances at a postseason berth.
Seattle has been linked to both Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Josh Naylor and third baseman Eugenio Suárez, and they have a solid farm system that could pry both of them away from Arizona.
But, if Seattle can only get one of them, Suárez could be the best option.
FanSided’s Quinn Everts devised three trade ideas to win the trade deadline and to not let Cal Raleigh’s historic season go to waste, including a trade for Suárez.

“He's in the final year of his contract so Seattle shouldn't have to give up a haul to get him,” wrote Everts. “But Geno is a hot commodity and the Diamondbacks will surely at least ask for a top 10-ish prospect from the M's very deep farm system — which currently has nine guys in MLB.com's Top 100.”
Suárez, 33, is having a fantastic power-hitting season for the Diamondbacks. The two-time All-Star has 31 home runs and 78 RBI while slashing .250/.320/.569 in 95 games this season.
Suárez hit 53 home runs and drove in 183 runs in 312 games with the Mariners from 2022 to 2023, so there is already a relationship between the two sides.
Adding Suárez would be a huge boost to Seattle’s lineup and provide protection for Raleigh amid his historic campaign.
