Colt Emerson evidently isn't wallowing in self-pity.
The Seattle Mariners' top prospect, who is a top-10 prospect in all of baseball, didn't make the Opening Day roster.
Instead, Seattle opted to send Emerson down to Triple-A Tacoma to begin the season.
The Rainiers began the season on Friday. Emerson was in the lineup, as expected. And he took flight immediately.
Yep, Emerson launched an Opening Day home run down at Triple-A. He crushed it the other way.
Even more impressively, it was a left-on-left blast.

— Tacoma Rainiers (@RainiersLand) March 27, 2026Emerson likely won't be down on the farm long, but the Mariners are being sure not to rush him.
They've got a mix of J.P. Crawford (when healthy), Leo Rivas and Cole Young to play the middle infield in the meantime.
But you can be sure if Emerson hits like this, he'll get the call soon.
It's an encouraging response by Emerson, and it shows that he's got a bright future ahead of him, just like everyone expects.
