The Seattle Mariners are currently taking on the Athletics this week. The Mariners won the first game of the series on Monday thanks to their recently indoctrinated 'piggyback' method with starters Luis Castillo and Bryce Miller.

On Tuesday, the Mariners reinstated southpaw reliever Gabe Speier from the injured list, which is a huge addition for the Mariners' bullpen.

Mariners Activate Gabe Speier

CBSSports wrote (on May 26): "Speier has been out for all of May with left shoulder inflammation, but he's been cleared to rejoin the Mariners' bullpen after making a couple rehab appearances. Nick Davila has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma to free a spot on the active roster for Speier's return."

Gabe Speier is off to another solid start for the Mariners this season. Over 15 appearances and 12.1 innings, the 31-year-old lefty has a 2.92 ERA and 12 strikeouts.

2025 was Speier's breakout season, and many MLB fans latched on to how dominant he can be as a reliever with some of his performances in September/October. In '25, Speier posted an ERA of 2.61 over 62 innings with 82 strikeouts.

He's an 8-year MLB veteran pitcher who debuted with the Kansas City Royals in 2019.
