Margot Robbie has formally taken her husband Tom Ackerley’s last name in corporate documents nearly 10 years after marrying the film producer.
The “Barbie” actress, 36, is listed as Margot Ackerley in documents published by Companies House, the UK’s business filing agency, for the couple’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, as of Tuesday.
The filing, which was received on Monday, noted the change from “Margot Elise Robbie” to “Margot Elise Ackerley.” She had used her Robbie surname since she was appointed director of the production company in May 2015.
Robbie is expected to continue using her maiden name professionally.
She and Ackerley, who is from Surrey, England, co-founded LuckyChap Entertainment in 2014 alongside their friends Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerrback.
The production company has since worked on films including “I, Tonya,” “Birds of Prey,” “Barbie” and “Saltburn.”
Robbie married Ackerley, 36, during an intimate ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia, in December 2016, two years after they started dating.
The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in October 2024.
The two met in 2013 while working on the World War II drama “Suite Française.” Robbie starred in the film, while Ackerley worked as an assistant director.
The pair became friends and eventually roommates before their relationship turned romantic.
Robbie is often private about her relationship, but she opened up about Ackerley in a 2016 interview with Vogue, saying she had not expected to fall in love with him.
“I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me,” she told the outlet.
“We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him.’”
“And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before,’” she added.
The couple revealed the one thing they fight about at home is “whether Tim Tams or Penguins are better,” referring to the Australian and British chocolate-covered biscuits, according to The Times of London in 2024.
The film producer, who also appeared in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” admitted he and Robbie don’t make a conscious effort to separate their work from their personal lives.
“It’s seamless. We don’t have a toggle on, toggle off. It’s all become one thing,” he said.
LuckyChap Entertainment has several projects in the works, including a live-action version of “The Sims,” an “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel directed by Bradley Cooper and a “Sleepy Hollow” adaptation starring Sydney Sweeney.
