The Toronto Maple Leafas are involved in plenty of trade rumors this month, and it feels like at this point, they all involve Matthew Knies in one way or another.
That's true in the latest rumor, too, which came out Thursday night and involves the Dallas Stars.
The Stars are likely to lose winger Jason Robertson this offseason, and maybe a guy like Knies could be the replacement.
What would it cost? Maybe, in part, the Stars' No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
This is what NHL insider Frank Seravalli had to report on X about a Knies to the Stars possibility:
As I’ve reported, #Leafs are seeking another Top 10 pick in 2026 #NHLDraft.
Sources say Toronto and Dallas had talks about Stars potentially flipping No. 7 overall from #SeaKraken in a deal for Matthew Knies to help replace Jason Robertson.
All part of Thursday’s shrapnel.

The Leafs aren't holding back in their Knies asks.
"Sources said #Leafs ask for Knies has included a Top 10 pick along with roster player(s) in a multi-faceted package," Seravalli writes. "If they’re going to move Knies, it’s going to be for a true haul. Or they’re going to have to soften the ask to get into the Top 10."
Knies is still just 23, and it feels like Toronto doesn't actually have a great reason to trade him. But with how many rumors there are, a trade does seem to be in play.
It's just a matter of where, and apparently the Stars are another option on the board.
