Fox News host Laura Ingraham accused Republicans in Congress of secretly wanting to lose control of the legislative branch in the midterms — claiming some of them would rather slip into the minority than face pressure to pass his agenda.
“I actually think there are a lot of Republicans on the Hill who will be happy not to have the burden of having to pass legislation,” she said Thursday night on the “The Ingraham Angle.”
“They’re almost going to be relieved for a little while, at least, to be in the minority,” she added.
Ingraham floated the theory as she blasted Republicans for failing to hammer home recent positive economic data ahead of the Nov. 3 elections.
She pointed to fresh Census Bureau figures on income, saying the Trump administration produced bigger gains in a single year than former President Joe Biden did during his entire term.
The Census Bureau said this week that real median household income rose 2.6% in 2025 to $87,460 — the highest level since the agency began tracking the measure in 1967.
“Why aren’t Republicans screaming this from the rooftops?” Ingraham asked.
Fox Business host Larry Kudlow agreed, saying workers in trades tied to data-center construction and other industries — including pipefitters, electricians, welders and carpenters — are making “close to $200,000 a year.”
Ingraham chimed in that it was the “best time ever for men without college degrees right now.”
Kudlow also touted tax cuts enacted last year, singling out “tax-free tips” and “tax-free overtime” as benefits for workers putting in extra hours.
“I call this the greatest story never told,” Kudlow said.
Ingraham blamed Republicans themselves for failing to spread the message.
“How many Republicans secretly want Trump to lose?” she asked.
“There’s no other explanation for why they shouldn’t be on the offense on the US economy.”
The broad economic picture has been a political headache for Republicans.
The RealClearPolling average of the generic congressional ballot stood Friday at 50.5% for Democrats and 41.9% for Republicans, an 8.6-point Democratic advantage.
A Fox News poll released Wednesday showed Democrats leading Republicans 51% to 44% on the congressional ballot, while Trump’s job approval stood at 39%.
The same survey found that 61% of registered voters called gasoline prices a “major problem” for their families and 62% said the same of grocery prices.
