Ruben Amorim backs Mason Mount to shine
Speaking earlier this year, Amorim said, “I really love Mason Mount. I see him and know how he suffered. I know how he does everything right — he eats right, his physical aspect is perfect… We need players like Mason Mount.”
Amorim’s trust could be the spark Mount needs. The 26-year-old ended last season on a high, scoring twice in the Europa League semifinal against Athletic Bilbao.
He’s reportedly been injury-free this pre-season and even got minutes in games against Leeds and West Ham.
Mount’s preferred role is further up the pitch, and Amorim seems willing to let him play there. But competition will be fierce.
Bruno Fernandes remains first-choice, and new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo will fight for similar spots.
Mount, though, isn’t backing down. “I’m feeling really good. I feel like I’m in a really good place at the moment. I’m so excited for the start of the season,” he told club media.
His body looks ready. His mind seems clear. And with Amorim’s faith behind him, Mason Mount might just turn his Manchester chapter into a comeback story worth shouting about.
