Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is attracting interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid, according to Diario AS. The two clubs are said to be ‘closely monitoring’ the 25-year-old after he emerged as one of Liverpool’s best players in the ongoing campaign.

Szoboszlai joined the Reds from Leipzig in 2023 for a reported fee of €70 million and has established himself as a mainstay at the Merseyside club. One notable attribute about the Hungary international is his versatility. Naturally a midfielder, Szoboszlai can also play in the right-back position, with manager Arne Slot deploying him there when both Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong were out injured.

Also, amid the Reds' poor run of form, Szoboszlai has delivered consistent fantastic performances, winning multiple Man of the Match awards. His performances haven’t gone under the radar, with Manchester City and Real Madrid now billed as his top admirers. City, in particular, are said to be impressed by his athleticism and adaptability.

Amid the reported interest from top European clubs, Diario AS reports that the Merseyside outfit are eager to secure Szoboszlai’s future by getting him to sign a contract extension, thus increasing his current pay. Szoboszlai currently earns €130,000 a week, but the reported pay raise is expected to deter potential suitors.

The report of a wage increase was further corroborated by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who stated that Liverpool are in advanced talks with the player to improve his salary after impressive performances. Szoboszlai’s current contract with the Reds will run out in 2028, and his current market value stands at €85 million, according to Transfermarkt.

Real Madrid to sacrifice star player in swap deal with Liverpool – Reports

According to a report from Defensa Central, Real Madrid are open to the idea of a swap deal involving Rodrygo, with manager Xabi Alonso willing to ‘facilitate’ a move for Liverpool summer signing Florian Wirtz.

Rodrygo has struggled for game time over the past couple of months and has mostly played as a substitute in the current campaign. Wirz, in the same vein, has yet to meet the expectations after his big-money move to Liverpool in the summer.

Defensa Central reports that Alonso would be delighted to have Wirtz in his squad at the Spanish capital despite his lackluster performances with the reigning Premier League champions. To that end, those at the Bernabeu are considering a swap deal and have identified Rodrygo for that very purpose.
