Man Utd want Club World Cup hero after injury sidelines Andre Onana

8 hours ago 1

It's no secret that Manchester United have been looking to sign a goalkeeper to replace the mistake-prone Andre Onana.

The club has been linked to players around the world, with Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Barcelona's Marc-Andre Ter Stegen top of the list.

Ruben Amorim's priority has been signing attacking options, but with an injury set to sideline Onana for six to eight weeks, Amorim is on the lookout for a bargain shotstopper.

Which goalkeeper is on the radar of Man United?

After his performances at the Club World Cup, United are looking to trigger the release clause of Botafogo's John Victor, according to GOAL Brazil.

Victor would come at a cut-rate price from the other keepers United have been linked to. The goalkeeper's clause is reported to be £6m, which Amorim might see as an unmissable opportunity.

Victor has played in 12 matches in the Brazilian Série A and has kept a clean sheet in seven matches already.

The 29-year-old has had inquiries from multiple top clubs, but the goalkeeping crisis in Manchester could spark a quick move for the Brazilian.

United are set to begin their preseason fixtures on July 19 in a friendly against Leeds, before heading to the United States to play in the Premier League Summer Series.
