Manchester United are working hard to bring in a striker to boost their attacking unit. Ruben Amorim seemed keen to reunite with Sporting's Viktor Gyökeres, but the striker looked more likely to join Arsenal.
Exclusive reports from TEAMtalk have revealed that Gyökeres has informed United he wants to join the Mancunian side, despite interest from other clubs.
Arsenal and Liverpool were both heavily linked with the striker, but TEAMtalk's Fraser Fletcher has been informed by sources that the Swedish international is prepared to join United.
Why does Amorim want Gyökeres to join Man Utd?
Amorim coached Gyökeres at Sporting, and he has a good relationship with the player. Gyökeres combined with the recent addition of Matheus Cunha and the incoming Bryan Mbeumo could be the solution to United's attacking woes.
Gyökeres has been a sensational scorer in Liga Portugal, with 39 goals in 33 games in the league this season. His goal-scoring ability would be a step up from the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund, who scored seven goals in the Premier League combined this season.

Sporting have been informed by Gyökeres that he will not play for them again, and he will try and force a move away from the club. The striker has a £85m release clause in his contract, but there are reports that Sporting will let him leave for less.
With United's financial state still fragile, Amorim will want to get the best deal possible for Gyökeres. Regardless of the price, Amorim will be pleased that Gyökeres has said yes to the club.
