Manchester City fans are hoping for a return to glory in the coming months as the 2025/26 Premier League season gets underway.
Pep Guardiola's side failed to win a trophy for the first time his debut campaign in Manchester back in 2016/17.
Alongside watching Liverpool storm away with the league title, City struggled in the domestic cups, and were dumped out in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 playoffs by Real Madrid.
Guardiola was aiming to salvage something from the campaign in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup this summer, but again City fell short, after a shock knockout stage loss at the hands of Al Hilal.
The club have backed Guardiola heavily in the summer transfer market - alongside a big spending January at the Etihad Stadium - and that investment will need to make a rapid impact.
The inclusion of the Club World Cup has impacted City's summer plans and Guardiola will only have a limited preseason campaign to work with his squad.

Man City's 2025/26 transfer, latest rumours
Guardiola spent an eye-watering £180m [$240m] in the January transfer window, as he looked to revive City's 2024/25 campaign, by bringing in Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez in the mid-season market.
That big spending has not slowed down over the summer, with an estimated £112m [$150m] splashed on new faces with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders landing in Manchester.
All three players debuted in the Club World Cup, and Guardiola is confident Cherki and Reijnders are Premier League-ready, but no fresh signings are expected at this stage.
Key duo Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker have moved on, to Napoli and Burnley respectively, with Bernardo Silva taking over the captaincy.
