Man City injury list: Players out, potential return dates, predicted lineup for next game vs. Burnley

Manchester City can dislodge Arsenal at the top of the Premier League when they travel to Burnley on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola's side secured a gripping 2-1 win over the Gunners on Sunday to close to within three points of the summit.

Even a one-goal victory at Turf Moor will move City into first place on goals scored, while a defeat for Burnley will confirm their relegation straight back to the Championship.

The Sporting News takes a look at the current players sidelined for Man City as a key man faces time on the sidelines, and Guardiola perhaps ponders rotation after the intensity of the Arsenal win.

Man City injury list

Below is the latest injury picture for Manchester City, and estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.

Rodri

  • Injury: Groin
  • Expected return date: May 4 (vs. Everton)

Rodri has returned to something close to his best form over recent weeks, with the improvement in City's wider performances no coincidence. However, a groin injury sustained during the closing stages of the crucial victory over Arsenal means he will not face Burnley and Guardiola is unsure whether he will be ready for either the FA Cup semifinal against Southampton or the Premier League trip to Everton. Nico Gonzalez is standing by as Rodri's usual understudy.

  • Injury: Hamstring
  • Expected return date: April 25 (vs. Southampton)

After picking up a hamstring injury in the second Champions League match against Real Madrid, centre-back Dias missed the Carabao Cup final and withdrew from international duty. The 28-year-old's absence ticked past a month when Guardiola ruled him out of the trip to Burnley on April 22, although the superb partnership forged by Abdukodir Khusanov and Marc Guehi in Dias' absence means there is little need to rush his return.

Josko Gvardiol

  • Injury: Tibia fracture
  • Expected return date: May

Man City suffered a brutal blow in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, as the opening match of 2026 brought with it terrible news. Defender Gvardiol, who has been a pillar of consistency for City in recent seasons, went down in the second half with a tibia fracture, confirmed by the club the following day.

City confirmed that Gvardiol underwent surgery for the broken leg. His recovery is progressing well and there is hope the Croatia international will return to action before the end of the season.
