Former batter Aakash Chopra made a massive statement on Australian all-rounder Cameron Green ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. He hinted that Green could be seen donning the KKR jersey next season.

KKR made some big releases and let 10 players go. They will enter the auction with the largest purse of ₹64.30 crore. With such a hefty balance, Aakash Chopra reckoned that they are most likely to acquire the services of Cameron Green, who will be a hot property at the auction. He also felt that Green could be the future replacement of Russell in the set-up.

"I think one must make an edit of Cameron Green in purple and publish it already. KKR need Cameron Green. They will control the auction now because they have a lot of money. The bowling will not get impacted by Johnson, Nortje, or Russell going away. Maybe Green could come in as an upgraded version of Russell," he said on his YouTube channel.

Green missed IPL 2025 due to injury but could return to the league in the upcoming season. He has played 29 matches and has scored 707 runs at an average of 41.58 and a strike-rate of 153.69. The Australian all-rounder has also bagged 16 wickets.

Aakash Chopra highlighted that the 2024 champions would need a wicketkeeper as they released both Quinton de Kock and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. While they released Venkatesh Iyer, he did not rule out the possibility of them buying him back at a lesser price.

Aakash Chopra on what CSK needs to do at the IPL 2026 auction

Aakash Chopra also opined on what five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) need to do at the auction. They released Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana and also traded out Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

Chopra reckoned that CSK required an overseas batter in the middle-order, as Sanju Samson would bat at the top. He added that they would need to look for spinners and overseas fast bowlers as well. The former batter hinted at the possibility of CSK going after Venkatesh Iyer.

"With Matheesha Pathirana released, Ashwin retired, Jadeja gone, Curran gone, there is plenty that has happened in that franchise. They have a lot of money. I feel they get a batter in the top order with Sanju coming in, but they still need a good overseas batter in the middle. They need spinners as well. They would want one more overseas fast bowler as well. They are not in a bad space actually. They need some experience so for all we know, they may be interested in Venkatesh Iyer as well, the possibility could be there," he said.

They will enter the auction with a purse of ₹43.40 crore. CSK finished at the bottom last year. They will want to build a strong unit and come back strong.
