Ramona Sarsgaard, the daughter of Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, was arrested Wednesday during an anti-Israel protest at Columbia University, police sources told The Post.
The 18-year-old, who is a student at Columbia College, was issued a written notice to appear in court for criminal trespassing, according to the sources.
Ramona was allegedly among a group of nearly 80 people who stormed the university’s Butler Library Wednesday evening as students prepared for final exams. Officials said two school safety officers were injured.
Social media footage of the chaotic scene showed masked protesters marching into the Ivy League school’s library, getting onto the room’s furniture and playing drums as they chanted, “Free Palestine!”
Photos obtained by The Post showed protesters defacing the walls, hanging Palestinian flags and marking tables with colored tape.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote via X in response to the protest, “We are reviewing the visa status of the trespassers and vandals who took over Columbia University’s library.
“Pro-Hamas thugs are no longer welcome in our great nation.”

The actress, who is Jake Gyllenhaal’s older sister, has said in the past that she identifies as Jewish, even though she does not “have a Jewish name and nobody would ever know.”
In 2014, Maggie spoke to the Jewish Journal about how the “intellectual, New York Jewish culture” was infused into her upbringing.
Peter, meanwhile, was raised Catholic, and not much is known about the religious views with which he and his wife raised their two daughters: Ramona and 13-year-old Gloria.
The girls have stayed out of the limelight for most of their lives, except in 2022 when Ramona made a rare appearance at a Paris Fashion Week show with her mom.
