Madonna teases ‘Confessions II’ tour plans — but fans can forget about a Vegas residency

Madonna may be gearing up to take her new music on the road — but don’t expect her to set up shop in Sin City anytime soon.

The Queen of Pop revealed Friday night at the Tribeca Festival premiere of her highly anticipated “Confessions II” visual album that she’s open to touring to promote the project, though she made it abundantly clear that a Las Vegas residency is not in her future.

During a post-screening panel at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, moderator Anderson Cooper — who stepped in for Jimmy Fallon after a last-minute scheduling conflict — asked Madonna what’s next for her following the release of “Confessions II,” which drops July 3.

The question prompted a chorus of fans to loudly encourage the superstar to hit the road again.

But when the conversation turned to the possibility of a residency — specifically at Las Vegas’ cutting-edge Sphere venue — Madonna immediately shut down the idea.

“The Sphere is cool, but I don’t want to wake up every morning and see Vegas,” she quipped to roaring applause.

One audience member enthusiastically agreed, shouting, “Never Vegas! Not Vegas!”

Madonna quickly played along.

“I never said Vegas!” she replied before adding with a laugh, “I don’t know what that is.”

While the 67-year-old icon sounded less certain about concrete touring plans, she suggested she’s open to bringing “Confessions II” to fans in a live setting — provided she can find a fresh way to do it.

“I could go on tour … I never want to repeat myself,” she said.

The remark was vintage Madonna, whose career has been defined by constant reinvention and boundary-pushing live spectacles. Any future “Confessions II” tour would likely need to meet the same creative standards before she commits.

The panel also offered fans new insight into the origins of the album. Madonna revealed that “Confessions II” emerged after plans for her long-gestating biopic were scrapped in 2023.

One star connected to that abandoned project ultimately found her way into the new visual album: Julia Garner, who had been tapped to portray Madonna on screen.

Garner appears in the film alongside an eclectic roster of celebrity cameos that includes Debi Mazar, Benedict Cumberbatch, Shea Couleé, Kate Moss, Gwendoline Christie, Odessa A’zion, Richard E. Grant and Sabrina Carpenter, Madonna’s duet partner on “Bring Your Love.”

Madonna’s daughter Lourdes “Lola” Leon also plays a memorable role in the project, delivering the film’s final line. Looking directly into the camera, Leon declares, “Cut, bitch.”

During the chat with Cooper, Madonna also shared that she collaborated with Leon on one of the album’s most personal songs.

She revealed that the pair co-wrote a track titled “The Test,” describing it as one of the more “emotional” moments on the record.

The 10-minute visual album, directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase — collectively known as TORSO — features six songs from “Confessions II,” the long-awaited sequel to Madonna’s landmark 2005 dance album, “Confessions on a Dance Floor.”

The project reunites Madonna with longtime collaborator Stuart Price and continues the dance-pop sound that helped make the original album a career-defining success.

So far, fans have gotten a taste of the LP through three releases: “I Feel So Free,” “Bring Your Love” featuring Carpenter and “Love Sensation.”

Following the panel, Madonna treated the crowd — many of whom arrived dressed in merchandise or outfits inspired by her most iconic eras — to a second screening of the film.

Before the encore presentation began, she encouraged attendees to stay quiet and pay close attention to the lyrics, emphasizing the importance of the new music.

Madonna showed up to the event in a glittering white minidress paired with sky-high heels, a fur jacket and oversized sunglasses. Her bright blond tresses, styled into a sleek middle part, glinted perfectly against her sparkly ensemble.

During the initial screening, she sat in the middle of the orchestra, shocking and delighting audience members.

One individual in Madonna’s section told Page Six it was hard to pay attention to the film with Her Madgesty in such close proximity. “She looked so f—king hot!” the fan enthused. “I was gagged the entire time.”

The “Confessions II” visual album will premiere on YouTube on Monday at 11 a.m. ET.
