Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has been in a battle with his ex, Anamaria Goltes, over his two children.
The 27-year-old NBA star confirmed to ESPN that he split from Goltes - the mother of his two daughters Gabriela and Olivia - earlier this month.
"I love my daughters more than anything and I've been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the US during the season, but that hasn't been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement," Doncic wrote in a statement.
On March 10, 2026, TMZ reported that Doncic's ex-fiancee filed a petition against him seeking child support for their two daughters, as well as attorney fees.
In return, the Lakers star is fighting to see them.
Goltes wouldn't let Doncic bring his oldest daughter back to America
Doncic was reportedly devastated when he traveled to Slovenia for his second child's birth, and Goltes wouldn't let him bring his oldest daughter, Gabriela, back to California with him.
Just two days after his second daughter's birth, on December 6, the situation got so bad that police were called to Kranj Maternity Hospital, per ESPN.
Officers "did not detect any elements of a criminal offense or misdemeanor," and Doncic left the hospital without causing a stir. However, it clearly got tense if law enforcement became involved in the situation.
Doncic flew back to the United States the same day the drama ensued. When reporters asked about his experience returning to Slovenia for his daughter's birth, Doncic said it was a "roller coaster," adding, "I don't even know how to describe it. It was a lot."
"I was there for the birth of my daughter, so that means everything to me. But it was definitely a roller coaster," he concluded.
He and Goltes have been plagued by breakup rumors for months.

Goltes hinted at relationship issues when she moved overseas
Goltes first suggested that there was trouble in paradise when she decided to relocate to Europe in May 2025 while pregnant. Doncic was forced to stay in California for his NBA career, however, that didn't stop her from leaving.
She didn't return to the states for the birth of her second child either.
Instead, Doncic was forced to miss several NBA games to be present for his daughter's overseas birth.
Doncic signed a three-year $165 million contract extension with the Lakers in August, so it doesn't look like he'll be moving overseas anytime soon.
The Lakers star has now entered into his own legal battle against his ex.
According to the "Daily Mail," Doncic filed an interim injunction demanding that Goltes give him access to his daughters on February 26.
The former couple were together for years prior to their split.
Doncic proposed to Goltes, an influencer and model, in July 2023 after knowing each other since they were kids.
The couple's first daughter, Gabriela, was born in November 2023 in the US when Doncic was still playing for the Dallas Mavericks.
