Luis Garcia Jr trade details: Yankees acquire Nationals slugger in exchange for massive pitching haul

The New York Yankees finally addressed their infield needs by acquiring Washington Nationals young star Luis Garcia Jr., according to Jeff Passan.

Garcia, 26, leads the National League in slugging percentage and is hitting .283/.313/.560 with 23 home runs. He's under team control through the end of the 2027 season, when he will first become eligible for free agency.

New York has been desperately searching for another bat with Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton still sidelined. Garcia could provide the boost the Bronx Bombers need while they wait for their stars to return to the lineup.

The Nationals are reportedly landing four prospects from New York, per MLB insider Robert Murray. Four pitchers are heading down to D.C., which will greatly help out one of the worst bullpens in the MLB (5.19 ERA: 27th, per Inside The Pen).
