"Loser mentality," "Fire him": NFL fans tear into Aaron Glenn for not benching Justin Fields as Jets QB struggles mightily vs. Patriots

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields had another disappointing showcase during Thursday's 27-14 loss to the New England Patriots. The quarterback completed 15 of 26 passes for 116 yards and two total touchdowns. However, it was not enough to bring an end to Mike Vrabel's seven-game winning streak.

After the game, fans on social media heavily criticized coach Aaron Glenn for playing Fields the entire game despite his disappointing showcase.

"If Aaron Glenn loses his job I will not feel bad. Loser mentality to keep fields in. 10000%," one fan commented.

"It would be really nice if the Jets beat could put some pressure on Aaron Glenn to explain why the hell Justin Fields is never benched," another fan stated. "Breece Hall 0 touches on the biggest drive of the game. Somebody in NY please do sumn to Justin Fields and Aaron Glenn. I'm begging you," this fan wrote. "Aaron Glenn hand picked Justin Fields and gave him $30m guaranteed. This guy cannot draft our next qb. What a nightmare this franchise is," another fan said. "If Aaron Glenn truly cares about building a culture then Tyrod Taylor should be the starting QB next week," one fan wrote. "Fire Aaron Glenn holy cow lol," another fan commented.

The Jets acquired Fields on a two-year deal worth $40 million in March. So far, he has recorded 1,259 yards and seven touchdowns passing while being sacked 25 times on the field.

After Thursday's loss, the Jets are dead last in the AFC East with a 2-8 record.

Connor Rogers calls out Aaron Glenn for playing Justin Fields despite his disappointing performance against the Patriots

After the game, analyst Connor Rogers questioned the Jets coach for his decision not to bench Fields against the Patriots. On the "SNY" show, he said that Glenn did not make decisions that could have given his team a fighting chance.

"I mean there's two people that make the same mistakes every single week on this team. It's Justin Fields and Michael Clemons. And neither are ever held accountable. And everybody else, it feels like there's a message sent," Rogers said. "It's always something different. The job of a head coach is to put the team in a position to succeed. You can't walk away from that game tonight and say he did that. ... It's just tough man. Like, everybody wanted it to work with Justin Fields, but at some point, you tether over the line that you're costing everyone in the locker room."

Rogers also said that the Jets should now bench Fields and give backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor a chance. They are next scheduled to face the Ravens on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. ET.
