As the Los Angeles Rams prepare to take on the Carolina Panthers in the wild-card round on Saturday, the organization may also be bracing for significant changes next season, with several assistant coaches drawing strong interest around the league.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rams assistant coaches are expected to be in high demand during this hiring cycle. Head-coaching interview requests are anticipated for defensive coordinator Chris Shula, offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, and pass game specialist Nate Scheelhaase.

Shula has already received an interview request from the Miami Dolphins, a storyline that carries historical intrigue given that he is the grandson of legendary Dolphins coach Don Shula. Defensively, the Rams performed better than league average this season, ranking 10th in points allowed per game.

Offensively, Los Angeles was dominant. The Rams fielded what was arguably the NFL’s best passing attack, leading the league in total yards per game and passing yards per game. They were also the only team to average more than 30 points per game this season.

LaFleur — the brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur — and Scheelhaase are both expected to receive interview requests in the coming days, largely due to the success of the Rams’ passing offense under quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford delivered an MVP-caliber season and was named a first-team All-Pro on Saturday.
