The Los Angeles Chargers brought Keenan Allen back onto the roster this offseason to ensure they had enough depth at the position. He has been one of the best players on the team this year.
When the deal was made official, we discussed how Allen had a great chance to break one of the most impressive records in team history. But before that happens, he has now made NFL history.
On a simple 4-yard out route against the Washington Commanders in the second quarter, Allen made his 1,000th career reception. He became just the 16th player in NFL history to do that but by doing so in 159 career games, he did it faster than any player ever. The record was previously held by Marvin Harrison, who accomplished the feat in 167 games.

Allen did it in half of a season quicker than Harrison, showing just how remarkable his career has been, even though he'll never be put in the same sentence as the former Indianapolis Colts wideout.
Harrison is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and considered one of the 10 best receivers in NFL history by most. Allen could be headed for Canton someday, but it goes without saying that he deserves more recognition than he gets.
Allen will still have the rest of the season to add to his impressive total. He could easily climb the list towards the top 10 in career receptions in league history.
