Longest FGs in NFL history: Chiefs' Harrison Butker converts one of longest kicks of all-time

1 hour ago 2

Harrison Butker will be going down in the unofficial kicking record books.

While the Chiefs kicker's 69-yard field goal made against the Buccaneers in Saturday's preseason matchup will not be considered official, it does technically go down as one of the longest converted kicks ever made in an NFL game.

Had Butker's long-shot been made in the regular season, it would have set a new record.

Here's a look at Butker's monster field goal in Saturday's game and how it compares to the longest NFL kicks ever.

Longest FGs in NFL history

Butker's field goal of 69 yards would have been the longest in NFL regular season history, had it come in an official matchup.

Currently, the longest field goal in NFL regular-season history belongs to Cam Little, who made a 68-yarder for the Jaguars in Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season. Little had previously kicked a 70-yard field goal in the 2025 preseason, but that doesn't count in the record books.

Little also made a 67-yarder during the 2025 season, meaning he owns the two longest regular-season field goals ever.

Prior to Little's 2025 record, Justin Tucker owned the all-time mark with a 66-yarder.

Longest FGs in NFL preseason history

The preseason does not count for any official NFL record books — but the longest known field goal ever made in an NFL game did happen in the preseason.

In 2025, Little connected from 70 yards out in Jacksonville's preseason. Even though it didn't set an official record, it was a sign of things to come, as he set the regular-season record of 68 yards a few months later.

On Saturday, Butker's 69-yarder moved into the No. 2 slot for all-time preseason kick lengths. He overtook Brandon Aubrey's 66-yarder in 2024 for the second-longest preseason field goal ever.
