Liverpool have made some statement signings this summer as they aim to defend their Premier League title. However, they have lost one of their best assets in Trent Alexander-Arnold, who decided to move to Real Madrid after running down his contract.
Despite the disappointment, the Reds acted swiftly and snapped up Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen to fill the void left by the Englishman at left-back.
Frimpong was a crucial player for Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen, which won the Bundesliga without losing a game. He moves to Anfield with a lot of promise and will hope to replicate his exploits whilst donning the Liverpool red.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Frimpong highlights that he is confident of filling in the shoes of Alexander-Arnold. He is relishing the pressure that may come his way after signing for the Premier League champions.
"It's big shoes, but it's Liverpool, it's a big team who win trophies for a reason. If you play for Liverpool, you have to fill in the shoes and perform. I've always believed in myself. I'm a winner. That's what I'll bring," he told Sky Sports.
The Dutch fullback has risen through the ranks at Manchester City during his youth career before moving to Celtic, followed by Leverkusen, and eventually landing at Anfield. Therefore, he has some idea about English football and the Premier League.

"The Premier League is the best league in the world. I grew up in Manchester, so I always wanted to come back. It was always the plan.
"I know what being a champion is like at Bayer Leverkusen, so joining a champion team is a privilege, especially for Liverpool. To go from watching them to playing for them is crazy. The manager has told me how I can help the team, and he really likes me as a player. It's given me extra motivation and belief."
What did Frimpong say about Wirtz following him to Liverpool?
Frimpong is not the only player joining Liverpool. The Reds have broken the bank to snap up Leverkusen's star player Florian Wirtz for a whopping £116 million ($156m) including add-ons.

The young German international is extremely creative, dynamic and was one of the hottest properties available in the summer transfer window. So it was a big swoop for the Reds as they had to fend off multiple competitors to land the 22-year-old.
Meanwhile, Frimpong shares a great relationship with Wirtz and is delighted to welcome him to Anfield. The Dutchman rates him very highly and believes that the Premier League followers will love watching him play.
"He's my boy. He's a winner - a very, very special player and very hard-working. The league will love him. I won't have to talk much, just watch him. He doesn't crumble under pressure; he likes pressure. He's a guy that makes you enjoy football with the way he plays," Frimpong opined about Wirtz.
Overall, it will be exciting to see how Frimpong and Wirtz adapt to their roles in Arne Slot's setup. Both are dynamic and attack-minded players and will look to elevate the quality of the roster of the reigning Premier League champions.
