Liverpool's summer transfer plans have taken a fresh turn — and it could bring a Chelsea forward to Anfield.
The Reds, already linked with several high-profile moves, are now reported to be in early talks with Christopher Nkunku.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Liverpool have reached out to the player's camp. The 27-year-old, once hailed as a marquee Chelsea signing, may already be preparing for a London exit.
Nkunku joined Chelsea with big expectations last summer in a £52 million deal.
But injuries and system struggles have kept him from showing his best.
After just three Premier League goals this season, the Blues seem ready to cash in. And with Liverpool lurking, the plot thickens.

Wirtz race heats up, Liverpool pivot to Nkunku?
Liverpool’s growing interest in Nkunku comes right after a major update on their chase for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
The German playmaker has attracted attention from Europe’s elite, but Bayern Munich appear to be ahead in that race. Manchester City, too, are reportedly shifting their focus to Dani Olmo as a backup plan.
German journalist Christian Falk explained (via BILD) City's stance, saying: "We’ve heard Manchester City want Dani Olmo—it's supposed to be a hot topic."
He also noted Bayern's edge in the Wirtz deal, stating: "We also heard that City learned during the talks that Bayern are a bit further along with Wirtz."
With Wirtz possibly off the menu, Liverpool aren’t wasting time. They’re eyeing Nkunku as a flexible option who could slot in across the frontline.
And while his Chelsea chapter hasn’t gone as planned, the Frenchman’s proven quality in Germany still makes him a tempting buy.
Bayern and Newcastle are also reportedly interested in Nkunku, but playing Champions League football might tilt the scales in Liverpool’s favor.
After all, who wouldn’t want to swap west London woes for a shot at Anfield glory?
With Arne Slot set to lead the Reds into a new era, one thing is clear — Liverpool aren’t sitting still. Whether it’s Frimpong, Wirtz, or now Nkunku, the summer window is already shaping up to be anything but dull.
