Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green picked young teammate Brandin Podziemski as the Dubs’ next torchbearer. Former Warriors player DeMarcus Cousins bluntly dismissed his pick on a Monday episode of the “Run It Back” podcast.
Cousins asserted that he wasn’t buying the idea of Green vouching for Podziemski. He added that the young guard has big shoes to fill if he were to inherit the crown of Curry.
“I’m not buying it,” Cousins said. “Draymond is a great teammate for trying to back his statement. I appreciate that. … Those are huge shoes to fill… Sometimes athletes are a little delusional... I'm not buying it.”•

Podziemski set an ambitious target for himself as the Warriors prepare for life without Steph Curry one day. The former Santa Clara star wants to be the guy the Dubs can trust with their future.
However, while Draymond Green agreed with his confidence, he cautioned him. The four-time champion asserted that the pressure from such a responsibility can be overwhelming.
“I think you’re worried a little more when someone struggles with confidence,” Green began. “It’s very hard to give someone confidence. I think with BP, one, you appreciate the respect. You go through so many years of building this thing up, you always just hope that the young guys that come in just respect you. Because if you do respect, then there’s so much to give from us. So much for us to give. And you want to give that.”Podziemski is currently in his third season with the Warriors. He is yet to reach the heights of last season as he is averaging 8.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game, compared to the 11.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg and 3.4 apg he averaged last season.
Draymond Green opens up on how long he intends to continue hooping
Draymond Green at 35 years is in his 14th season in the league. He spoke with “Network with Rich Kleiman,” where he detailed how long he intends to keep playing.
"Mentally going into this year, I feel incredible," Green said (9:40 mark). "I'm motivated, I'm excited, I have personal goals to that I want to reach. It's always great when you feel like you have a team that you can compete with, and I feel like we have a team that we can compete with."Draymond Green has established himself as one of the leaders in the Warriors’ roster. With Curry and Jimmy Butler, they have a chance of competing again and maybe winning Green his fifth championship title.
