The Detroit Lions have been linked to about every edge rusher in the NFL over the past few weeks, with Maxx Crosby obviously being the guy that many around the league would want.
However, with Crosby seemingly not on the trade market anymore, many want them to look at Myles Garrett, and the latest update suggests there’s at least a path for a deal to happen in this offseason.
“Garrett wants out, seems like they are going to give it to him later in the offseason,” Jack Duffin wrote. “No real reason to do it otherwise.”
After Duffin's remarks, Max Dible of Heavy Sports pondered the idea of the Lions going after Garrett.
"However, recent developments involving the Cleveland Browns, edge-rusher Myles Garrett and some strange adjustments to his contract language on Wednesday, March 25 spell good news for any contender interested in taking a Super Bowl swing on a trade for the two-time and defending Defensive Player of the Year," he wrote.
The Lions are firmly in win-now mode, as they’ve built one of the most complete rosters in the NFL. Adding a player like Garrett, even if it feels unlikely right now, would make them arguably the best team in the entire league.
If there was any interest from the Lions in Crosby, it almost feels safe to say that if Garrett becomes available, they'll at least do their research on him.
