An NFL analyst has named the Detroit Lions and Las Vegas Raiders as the two top landing spots for Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons.
Sports Illustrated's Tyler Reed lists the Lions and Raiders as potential trade destinations for Parsons, who requested a trade out of Dallas on Friday due to the franchise's unwillingness to engage in contract talks with the superstar pass rusher's agent.
"Edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson is back after breaking his leg last season, but if the team added Parsons to the roster in a trade, it would mean they are in win-now mode, which they really already are in," Reed wrote on the Lions.
"The Raiders are beginning a new era under Pete Carroll, and what better way for the coach who led the "Legion of Boom" to shift the culture than by acquiring Parsons," Reed wrote on the Raiders.
Parsons is one of the most prolific players in the sport. The 26-year-old has tallied double-digit sacks in each of his first four seasons and has also tallied two seasons with over 100 quarterback pressures.
Though the Cowboys have no intentions of trading Parsons, they could be forced to at some point if negotiations continue to go poorly.
The Lions would be an electric landing spot for Parsons, as the Penn State product would form an unstoppable duo with Aidan Hutchinson and elevate Detroit into the favorites in the NFC. However, with Hutchinson also needing a long-term extension, the Lions don't have the money to pay two edge rushers top-of-the-market money.
The same would go for the Raiders. Parsons and Maxx Crosby would arguably form the most relentless pass-rushing duo in the sport, but Crosby just signed a three-year extension worth $106 million with Las Vegas in March. The franchise doesn't have the money to give Parsons the deal he desires, which would likely reset the edge rusher market.
Overall, it's gonna be tough for the Lions or Raiders to trade and extend Parsons. However, the possibility can't be ruled out, especially with both teams entering pivotal 2025 campaigns.
