Lions OC John Morton's hype for wide receiver Jameson Williams is through the roof

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams had a breakout campaign in 2024, but offensive coordinator John Morton thinks he might be primed for even bigger things in 2025.

Morton spoke with the media on Tuesday and had nothing but great things to say about Williams, who he says has been "unbelievable" with his attention to detail during the offseason.

As a result, Morton envisions another breakout showing for the former first-round pick.

"Unbelivable. In the meetings, attention to detail, I'm so excited to see (Williams) this year," Morton said, per Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News. "It's gonna be a breakout year, so I can't wait."

After two quiet years to begin his career, Williams posted career-highs in receptions (58), receiving yards (1,001) and touchdowns (seven), all of which ranked second among Lions wideouts.

Williams' explosiveness was on full display, also, with the Alabama product adding a much-needed big-play element to Detroit's offense.

"I haven't been around a guy like him," Morton said of Williams' speed.

As a result of his impressive third season, the Lions decided to pick up Williams' fifth-year option earlier this month, which locks him in through at least 2026.

Now, Williams will look to keep building on his success from last year en route to earning himself a lucrative, long-term extension before he hits free agency in 2027.
