Jahmyr Gibbs is an absolute fireball on the field in the best possible way. The running back for the Detroit Lions played in all 17 games last season, clicking for 1,223 yards on 243 carries with 13 touchdowns. Those are superstar numbers.
While Gibbs is certainly a fan favorite, he doesn't have the name recognition of some of the biggest guys in the NFL. That doesn't matter, though, because Gibbs is finally getting respect when it's due.
Bleacher Report has released a tally of the 1,000 best players in the NFL going into the new season. Sure, 1,000 is a big number, and this is a pretty crazy list. But, at least everyone gets their moment to shine.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs gets major honor going into fresh season
Gibbs is No. 12 on the tally. Think about that for a sec. He's No. 12 out of 1,000. That's huge. In the piece, Bleacher Report calls him a "game-changing running back."
"He has a complete skill set to remain on the field for all three downs," they add. "The Lions star is among the most explosive players in the league; at top speed, he outruns angles with ease."
What else makes Gibbs stand out is that "his work as a receiver is multifaceted; Gibbs is a weapon out of the backfield and aligned as a wide receiver."
There's so much to love about Gibbs and his potential for the 2026-27 season. The Lions fell hard last season, but with guys like Gibbs running up the numbers, better days are ahead.
