Lions injury updates for Week 7: Alim McNeill, Kerby Joseph, Marcus Davenport, more

The Detroit Lions have several injury concerns ahead of their Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

Head coach Dan Campbell touched on many of those injuries in his media availability on Tuesday, providing updates on Terrion Arnold, Alim McNeill, Avonte Maddox, Marcus Davenport, Kerby Joseph and Malcolm Rodriguez.

According to Pride of Detroit's Jeremy Reisman, Campbell offered hope that McNeill would make his 2025 debut on Monday night.

“I’d love to believe so,” Campbell said of McNeill playing. “I would, 58 — 52/48 (percent)? 58 — I don’t know. We’re getting closer. I’m starting to feel pretty good.”

“The last two weeks he’s looked good,” he added on McNeill. “He’s getting more comfortable, legs are under him, he’s physically ready. So I think we’re all hopeful.”

Joseph was clearly battling through his knee injury in Week 6 and was in and out of the game. His presence this week is even more important in the wake of Brian Branch's one-game suspension.

Campbell didn't provide a clear answer on Joseph's status for the Bucs game, only noting that the team would have to "reassess" whether or not it's going to let the Detroit safety give it a go on Monday.

As for Arnold, Avonte Maddox, Marcus Davenport and Malcolm Rodriguez, the Lions head coach believes none of them will play before the bye.

“Not yet,” Campbell said of Davenport. “He’s doing well, he’s getting better.

"We like where all of those (IR) guys are at. Man, we’re going to be looking pretty good at the end of November, December, which is awesome. But I don’t see him being ready before the bye for sure.”

“I think they’re both probably (returning) after the bye,” Campbell said of Arnold and Maddox.

With D.J. Reed on injured reserve, the Lions are extremely short at the cornerback position, which is especially bad news for a matchup against a Bucs' offense that can sling it with the best of them.
