Lions' defender who had a 2-INT game against Jordan Love retires from NFL at age 28

Jerry Jacobs is always going to have quite the memory.

In Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season, playing defensive back for the Detroit Lions, Jacobs intercepted Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love twice in a 34-20 win.

He didn't have a long-lasting NFL career, but that was special.

On Tuesday, Jacobs called it quits on his football career. He has retired from the sport.

The 28-year old Jacobs posted a heartfelt message on social media to make the announcement:

Jacobs spent his college career at Hutchinson Community College, then Arkansas State, and finally Arkansas.

He was undrafted into the NFL before joining the Lions. 

He made 131 career tackles and three interceptions for Detroit across three seasons.

Jacobs then got an offseason look from the Los Angeles Rams before 2024 but didn't play in the regular season. 

He was making an attempt at a comeback for 2026 by signing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL, but he hasn't stuck around and will instead be hanging up his cleats.
