The Detroit Lions are in last place in the NFC North, and that spot was cemented with a loss on "Sunday Night Football" against the Carolina Panthers in primetime. Nothing appeared to be going right for head coach Dan Campbell and the Lions, and the team fell 32-26 on the road.

The Lions were once the laughingstock of the NFL, and they don't want that to happen again. They've also never even been to the championship game in the history of their franchise. So, what does Campbell think about the situation?

Dan Campbell talks about what the Detroit Lions need to fix

Campbell met with reporters on Monday and was frank about what this team needs to do differently.

"I think a lot of our games are going to be this way, and it's important for us to complement each other," Campbell said during the presser. "At the end of the day, we got two stops at the end of that game; we had a chance to put it away or to win it, to go down, and we weren't able to close it out."

He added, "We're not in flow right now, obviously. And we need to get takeaways on defense, that's going to help out a lot here."

Elsewhere, Campbell said the team has to "play a lot smarter than we are in areas, really across the board."

So, he says they're focusing on getting "cleaned up" and emphasizing discipline. The team's next game is Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona is 1-3, so if the Lions lose to them, it'll be a truly troubling sign.
