The Detroit Lions are coming off a too-close-for-comfort 20-17 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, and even though it was a nail-biter, it was a huge win for this franchise. Beating a rival in the NFC North is always a big deal, and that's especially true this season, when the Lions are fighting to get back to the top of the division.
But they almost lost the game. There's one big problem that resurfaced that could have cost them it all. Thankfully, quarterback Jared Goff and the team didn't let that happen, but it's worth noting and mentioning that they need to work on this issue going forward.
Detroit Lions Lions' fumbling issues nearly cost them against Green Bay Packers
In a feature published on the NFL's official website about the NFL's Week 7 games, Kevin Patra notes that the Lions almost lost it.
One of the biggest issues he points out is the team's fumbles.
"Detroit committed a host of offensive miscues, including back-to-back fumbles to end the second quarter and open the third," he notes. "With a chance to extend a three-point lead, the Lions marched into the red zone, but Jahmyr Gibbs fumbled."
He adds, "Detroit came out in the second half and botched a snap between Cade Mays, playing his first game of the season, and Jared Goff. The swing let Green Bay take its first lead of the game."
So, it's something the team has to watch. However, Goff had another huge game. He tossed for 303 yards and two touchdowns, making sure the Motor City would solidify that win.
