The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears are both showing interest in the same veteran wide receiver as free agency ramps back up after the 2026 NFL Draft.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide receiver Scotty Miller is in Detroit visiting the Lions on Tuesday and will also travel to Chicago for a workout with the Bears next week.
"Steelers free-agent wide receiver Scotty Miller is visiting today with the Detroit Lions. He also currently is scheduled to tryout next week for the Chicago Bears," Schefter said on X.
Who is Scotty Miller?
Miller was a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bowling Green spent four seasons in Tampa Bay, with his best year coming in 2020, when he had 501 yards and three touchdowns. Miller was also a member of the Bucs' Super Bowl-winning team that year.
Miller departed Tampa Bay for the Atlanta Falcons during the 2023 offseason, but outside of being a special teams contributor, he didn't do much in his lone year with the Falcons o
Over the last two seasons, Miller has been with the Pittsburgh Steelers, tallying 14 receptions and 27 special teams snaps in that span.
Why Lions and Bears are showing interest in Miller
Though Miller isn't a starting-caliber receiver, the 28-year-old still has some speed and could earn a role on special teams as a returner or gunner.
Detroit and Chicago could sign Miller to a cheap deal to compete for a roster spot in training camp, and have a veteran playmaker with championship experience on offense.
