A team that can win a one-point game and then score 51 has reasons for confidence. It also has reasons to resist treating its trip to Coastal as a continuation of last Saturday. Playing on the road on a Thursday can quickly change the rhythm of a game. Liberty’s schedule lists this as its final September contest. Afterward, it visits Delaware on Oct. 2. A win would give the Flames momentum entering that trip; a loss would send them into October with questions about whether they can sustain their Ball State performance.
Coastal’s response will tell the story
The Chanticleers lost 31-24 at West Virginia to open the season. That result showed they could stay competitive on the road. The Delaware defeat was a reminder that remaining close and finishing a game are different things.
Coastal returns home with an opportunity to play more decisively before its schedule moves on to Georgia Southern.
