The Valkyries took an early 25-15 lead in the first quarter and controlled the rest of the game, limiting the Liberty to 12 points in the third. Breanna Stewart led New York with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jonquel Jones scored 16 points with eight rebounds.
Satou Sabally also returned to the starting lineup after recovering from a concussion sustained in the previous WNBA Finals. The Liberty will face the Dallas Wings next on Sunday. It tips off at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Barclays Center and will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock. Sabally is set to play in this game as she is now off the injury report and back in the active rotation.
