I’ve been a movie guy my whole life. Doesn’t matter the genre — horror, rom-com, prestige drama, a straight-to-streaming disaster with a 12% on Rotten Tomatoes — I’ll watch it.
Honestly, some of my favorite viewing experiences have been with movies that are objectively terrible.
There’s a special joy in a hate-watch, in sitting through something so spectacularly bad that it loops back around to being a great time. I thought I had a high tolerance for cinematic chaos. Then I found these reviews.
If you’ve never used it, Letterboxd is a social media platform built entirely around movies. Think of it as a mashup of a film diary and a social network: users log everything they watch, rate films on a five-star scale, and write reviews that anywhere from a thoughtful paragraph to a single deranged sentence.
People follow each other, share lists, and turn the simple act of reviewing a movie into something between film criticism and performance art. It’s become the go-to spot for cinephiles, casual viewers, and absolute lunatics alike.
And it’s that last category we’re here for today.
The Letterboxd Reviews With Threatening Auras Twitter account exists to collect the most unhinged, menacing, and gloriously cursed reviews the platform has to offer — the kind of takes that make you wonder about the mental state of the person who typed them.
These aren’t your standard “loved it, 4 stars” reviews. These radiate a genuine threatening aura, and I am obsessed with every single one.
