"Let's make it happen" - CSK reacts to Akeal Hosein's 12-year-old tweet on star all-rounder after acquiring him at IPL 2026 auction

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) retweeted West Indies star Akeal Hosein's 12-year-old tweet on Ravindra Jadeja after securing his services in the IPL 2026 auction on Tuesday, December 16. Hosein had posted about aspiring to be a player like Jadeja back in 2013.

The 32-year-old left-arm spinner entered the IPL 2026 auction and bagged his maiden contract at his base price of ₹2 crore from the Super Kings. Hosein has a promising T20 record, with 237 wickets in 253 games at 25.02 with a fifer and five four-wicket hauls. The southpaw remains a regular fixture in West Indies' T20I side and often bowls in the powerplay.

Jadeja, who represented the Super Kings from 2012 to 2015 and 2018 to 2025, won three IPL titles with them. The Saurashtra all-rounder was traded to the Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2026 for a price of ₹14 crore. Hence, CSK will look to Hosein to fill in for him.

Meanwhile, CSK had a season to forget in IPL 2025 as they finished at the bottom of the points table, managing only four wins in 14 games. After trading Jadeja and Sam Curran, the decorated franchise had released the likes of Matheesha Pathirana, Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, Vijay Shankar and Deepak Hooda among other players.

The Super Kings have notably shelled out a massive ₹14.2 crore on left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Prashant Veer in the ongoing IPL 2026 auction, who can also be Jadeja's successor in the long term.
