LeBron James is getting candid about his relationship with Savannah James.
The four-time NBA champion revealed the truths about his 12-year marriage to Savannah in a conversation with Complex's Speedy Morman. LeBron explained how everything is not always how it seems.
“It’s not, man,” LeBron told Speedy. “I’m gonna be honest. A relationship is never picture perfect. But if you’re OK with working through the hardships and the adverse moments, then it will make it all worth it, man. We’ve been together since high school, so s*** ain’t always going to be a bed of roses, man — in any relationship, let alone someone you’ve been living with for 20 years.”
LeBron went on to share what are some important aspects that everyone should have in a healthy relationship.
“Communication is No. 1,” LeBron continued. “Being honest is No. 2. No. 3 is just, like, you have to be OK in being uncomfortable in relationships sometimes. You can’t always have it your way. You can’t always think, ‘My way or the highway.’ It’s never going to work that way.”
The Lakers star also explained how an age-old phrase is very true in a marriage.
“The saying, ‘Happy wife, happy life,’ that s*** is real, bro,” he added.

LeBron and Savannah James just celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary on Sept. 14. The Lakers star shared a photo of his wife on his Instagram Story writing, "Happy anniversary my beautiful. I love you mama."
The couple share three children: "Bronny" James Jr., 20, Bryce Maximus, 18, and Zhuri Nova, 10.
LeBron and Savannah are high school sweethearts and have been together for two decades. In 2021, the mom of three spoke to The Cut on how she appreciates how much LeBron views how important her role is in the family.
"It's very nice to hear that the sacrifices that you've made and the work that you've put into making sure that our children are raised properly and that he has a stable environment that's full of love and good vibes and all the things — it's a testament to be told that," the mother of three said. "I think it's a testament to myself to be like, 'Yeah, thank you. I did that.'"
