LeBron James called ultimate 'difference maker' in shocking Kevin Durant comparison

LeBron James signing with the Philadelphia 76ers for just an $8 veteran minimum deal shocked the entire NBA community, especially after walking away from over $50 million with the Los Angeles Lakers. 

Not surprisingly, the majority started calling the 41-year-old a "ring chaser," but Charlamagne tha God recently made a really good point comparing this to Kevin Durant.

Just to recap, KD left a solid Oklahoma City Thunder team to join a Golden State Warriors squad that literally won 73 games and already had a championship ring back in 2016. 

Even though Durant then won back-to-back Finals MVPs there, people still argue to this day whether he won those rings or if the Warriors won them for him. Meanwhile, James has joined a Philly team that hasn't won anything yet. So, it is a completely different story.

Charlamagne drew a hard line between that move and James’ decision to join Philly. In his view, the Houston Rockets forward walked into a ready-made machine while the 41-year-old has always been the machine.

"KD to Golden State is ring-chasing because KD never won a ring anywhere and still hasn't won a ring anywhere else," the radio host and media personality said. "He went to Golden State because Golden State were champions. He won two rings and hasn't won anywhere else. LeBron has won everywhere he went. He's been the difference maker. So it's anything. He go to Philly. That's not ring-chasing."

There are tons of records to back up this argument. James won his first two championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013, then returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers and helped the franchise win its only title in 2016, before winning again with the Lakers in 2020. 

Across stops with three different franchises, James has won a championship at every single destination, while Durant only won rings with Golden State.

If James helps the Sixers win their first title since 1983, he will have won a championship with every team he has ever joined. And that intriguing achievement would prove he does not just join championship rosters -- he builds them.
