The Philadelphia Eagles are in a good position right now.
The team is in first place in the NFC East with a 5-2 record and already has impressive wins over Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
However, the team isn't perfect, and if there's one area that needs to improve it's the pass rush. The Eagles have just 11 sacks as a team this year, which is more than only four other teams. Nobody other than defensive lineman Moro Ojomo has even hit the three sack mark so far.
As a result, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team go out and make an addition before the deadline. After all, this is still Howie Roseman's team, and we know the executive isn't afraid to make a bold move.
Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors recently proposed that the Eagles trade for Bradley Chubb of the Miami Dolphins. Ulrich thinks a 2026 fourth-round pick would be enough to get a deal done. Chubb is a two-time Pro Bowler who has been a reliable pass-rusher throughout his seven-year career.
Regarding Chubb and the Eagles, Ulrich offered the following:
Adding Chubb to the Eagles’ defense would fill a massive need for Philadelphia, which has been banged up at edge rusher — a position that was already a question mark entering the season. It’s tough to be a true Super Bowl contender with pass rush question marks. Chubb is possibly the top pass rusher available ahead of the deadline with four sacks so far this season and would go a long way toward patching up a need for Philadelphia.
As Ulrich mentioned, it's hard to be taken seriously as a Super Bowl contender when you don't have a strong pass rush. Chubb is probably the best pass-rusher who is going to be available at the deadline, so it's easy to make the connection here.
Additionally, trading for Chubb would reunite the defender with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Chubb spent three years playing for Fangio in Denver and earned one of his two Pro Bowl selections under the coach.
So far in 2025, Chubb has collected 20 tackles, four sacks, and five tackles for loss in seven games. Pro Football Focus has credited the veteran with 15 pressures so far this season.
The Dolphins are 1-6 and any playoff dreams are long gone. The team will undoubtedly be shopping any veterans on the roster, and it's hard to imagine a better fit than Chubb to the Eagles.
