Nebraska Volleyball's Laney Choboy recently penned a sweet birthday note for a fellow Husker and her boyfriend Jeremiah Charles that left her teammates gushing. Choboy is dating Charles, who serves as a defensive back for the program's football team.

During his recruitment process, Charles chose Nebraska over Tevas. He began his collegiate journey with the Huskers as a wide receiver in 2023, after which he switched to defensive back. So far in this season, he played in every single match and has recorded a career-high three tackles against Houston Christian. As he celebrated his 20th birthday, his girlfriend expressed her admiration for him.

She shared a few pictures of them together, posing in black t-shirt and denim in a studio, and conveyed her pride in him.

"Happy 21st birthday to my best friend and the best person in the whole world," Choboy wrote. "I’m so proud of the man you’ve become and can’t wait to see you continue to grow!! ilym 🫶🏼🫶🏼"

Choboy's teammates couldn't stop gushing over their photos, with the freshman Keri Leimbach writing:

"MOM AND DAD 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌"

Another freshman and middle blocker, Kena Cogill, also penned her admiration:

"Awww so cute," Cogill wrote.

Taylor Landfair simply noted:

"SYDNEYYYYYYY"

Before joining college, Charles attended Arlington Martin High School in Texas, where he only played in his senior year. He is currently pursuing his child, youth, and family studies major. Before heading to the camp this season, Choboy gifted him a basket with atleast $300 goods.

"Hopefully carry on those legacies" - Laney Choboy opens up on competing as the libero for Nebraska Volleyball

Laney Choboy joined the Nebraska Volleyball team as a freshman libero in 2023. She replaced Lexi Rodriguez after the latter joined professional volleyball. In an interview with Hurrdat Sports, she reflected on the opportunity to compete for the Huskers and carry forward the legacy established by remarkable players like Rodriguez.

“I think it’s a huge deal,” Choboy said. “Obviously, Nebraska has a legacy of liberos and big-time liberos too — Justine and Lexi going to play in the Olympics and trying to make the Olympic team. It’s insane to think that I’m in this position now, but I’m just going to continue to have gratitude for this position and be thankful that I’m here and then continue to work and hopefully carry on those legacies.”

The Nebraska Volleyball team will next compete against UCLA on November 14, 2025.
