Lane Kiffin's old team, the Ole Miss Rebels, is up against the Georgia Bulldogs in the CFP quarterfinals. The game will be featured on ESPN GameDay, and the panel made their picks on the favorite to win.

All five members of the panel picked Georgia to win. Lane Kiffin isn't a fan.

"What are you guys thinking?!?!? @CollegeGameDay Have you not watched 🇹🇹???" wrote Kiffin on X (formerly Twitter).

Lane Kiffin enjoyed six years at Ole Miss, culminating in securing a College Football Playoffs berth. However, he accepted the LSU Tigers head coach job at the end of the regular season.

Ole Miss' athletic director, Keith Carter, opted against Kiffin coaching the Rebels in the playoffs. Pete Golding has taken the job and is looking to secure an upset win over Kirby Smart's Bulldogs.

Lane Kiffin won't be at the Sugar Bowl

Lane Kiffin will be rooting for the Ole Miss Rebels against the Georgia Bulldogs. However, he won't be in the stadium to support his old side in the most important game of their recent history.

According to Yahoo Sports, Kiffin has opted out of attending the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. He's instead looking to be on hand for an LSU women’s basketball game.

The report adds that Kiffin is expected to be in attendance for the LSU Tigers game against Kentucky on Thursday night. His absence puts an end to ESPN's aim of having him on the broadcast during the Ole Miss Rebels’ matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Kiffin might not be coaching the Rebels, but he's loaned out his assistants to the program to coach in the College Football Playoff. They will return to their primary assignment once the Rebels are done with their playoff run.

With the Sugar Bowl starting at 8 p.m. ET, here's what you need to know about the showdown:

  • Date: Thursday, January 1, 2026
  • Time: 8 p.m. ET
  • Venue: Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana
