Lamar Jackson will hate Ravens' OTA 'mystery'

1 hour ago 3

One thing that a quarterback who is hoping to make a deep playoff run, like Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson, needs is a settled offensive line.

Having the same group in front of you creates continuity and builds cohesion that makes it tough to get to the quarterback.

But the Ravens this offseason lost perhaps their most important piece, and that's Tyler Linderbaum. However, while that was bad, what's worse is that Baltimore hasn't replaced him.

And for CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan, the Ravens' biggest mystery doesn't exactly have the kind of answers Lamar wants.

"The Ravens saw Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum leave for the Raiders in free agency, and have yet to truly replace him," Sullivan wrote. "The club didn't make any sizable moves in free agency for a starting center and didn't take one at the NFL Draft, which leaves Danny Pinter, Corey Bullock, Jovaughn Gwyn and Nick Dawkins left duking it out."

Jackson up against the odds

You could make the case that center is one of the most important positions on offense. They help set the protection, identify what the defense is trying to do, and help protect their quarterback.

So having a veteran at that position is ideal, but the Ravens, at least right now, won't.

And for a team with Super Bowl aspirations, and with Jackson under pressure to bounce back from a horror 2025 season, that isn't great.

Of course, someone from the group Sullivan mentioned could surprise in training camp, but right now, Lamar doesn't have a legitimate center, and that's really problematic.
