As Lamar Jackson is set to miss the Baltimore Ravens; Week 5 matchup vs. the Atlanta Falcons, Ravens fans hope history is not repeating itself.

Last season, Jackson played the first four games of the year at his typical MVP level, but suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4. The quarterback had to sit out the next three games, and upon returning, battled other various lower body injuries that limited his production on the field.

As a result, Baltimore missed the playoffs while Jackson failed to finish in the top two of MVP voting for the third-straight season.

Through the first four weeks of this season, Jackson's numbers are in a similar place to where they were at this point last year. However, as Baltimore hopes to return to the playoffs following a year off, Jackson needs to put up better numbers than he did in the final half of the season in 2025.

Jackson's numbers before and after his injury last year are stark and are part of the reason why the Ravens failed to make the playoffs. Here's a breakdown of Jackson's season last year.

After suffering a hamstring injury during Week 4 of the 2025 season. Lamar Jackson missed three games and came back as a lesser version of himself. Prior to the injury, Jackson started the season strong with 10 touchdown passes and just one interception, but after returning, he failed to throw a score in four of his next nine games.

Additionally, Jackson went from going over 200 passing yards easily in the first three weeks of the year to failing to reach the 200-yard mark in five of the nine games after coming back from injury. Jackson's turnover margin also went up, while his completion percentage plummeted.

Also notable was Jackson's running, which was more limited in the second half of the season. Prior to the start of the 2026 campaign, Jackson said that was calculated to make sure he stayed healthy.

"It really would not [have] put my team in a good position if I was just running hurt -- losing yards, things like that [were] happening," Jackson said, via ESPN. "But whatever it takes to win, that is what I am all about and [I have] always been about that too."

Jackson's numbers to open the 2026 season are similar to his production in the first four games last year. However, another lower body injury could derail his season if he isn't careful.

This year, Jackson's injury is an ankle sprain compared to last year's hamstring issue, so the impact of the injury could be different. Iit is still a lower body injury, though, which means Jackson may have to be wary of running a lot the rest of the way.
