The Los Angeles Lakers are continuing to make two-way contract decisions in early July.
Shortly after re-signing former Golden State Warriors Summer League Defensive star Chris Manon, the Lakers agreed to a two-way deal with a history-making 6-foot-5 rookie guard.
“The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Peter Suder to a two-way contract,” the Lakers announced Saturday. “Suder appeared in 33 games (all starts) for Miami (Ohio) in 2025-26, averaging 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals in 31.1 minutes, while shooting 54.6% from the field and 42.1 from three-point range.”
“The Carmel, Ind., native was named the MAC Player of the Year and earned First Team All-MAC honors after helping the RedHawks finish the regular season with a perfect 31-0 record. Prior to Miami, Suder played two seasons at Bellarmine University in Kentucky. In 130 career collegiate games (all starts), the 22-year-old averaged 12.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.2 steals in 30.2 minutes.”
Suder, who became the first Miami (Ohio) player since 2009 to capture the MAC Player of the Year award, won’t wow spectators athletically, as he’s a well-known below-the-rim contributor. However, he’s a physical guard who understands the importance of using his body to shield opponents in downhill driving situations and of utilizing shot fakes to create easier looks around the rim.
The 22-year-old is also a prolific perimeter shooter who’s always ready to let it fly when unattended from beyond the arc. While it may take Suder some time to adjust to the NBA's speed and athleticism, his valuable sharpshooting and offensive discipline could eventually help him find his way.
